HAAAPPPPPYYY CINCO DE MAYO! AY AY

358 w 23rd st // btwn 9th ave & 10th ave
give me two pina coladas, one for each hand! i am currently sitting in a history class and we have yet to discuss the history of cinco de mayo. perhaps its because it is a us history class eh tomato tom-ahto. speaking of tomatoes, that brings me to my point. i could go for a 3 dollar pina colada and some free SALSA! where? TEQUILA CHITOS. this hole in the wall mexican bar and grill has happy hour monday-friday:4-7 including $3 lime margaritas, pina coladas, mixed drinks, and beer, to wash down the free buffet and unlimited chips and salsa. what the yummin am i stlll doing here?!//tequilachitos.com// p.s- say its someones bday they'll blast your ears out with some previously recorded mariachi band, dust there sombrero off the wall and plop it on your head, when serving up some free dessert (note: the pic of allison- her initiation into the tequila chitos fan club)//k.cool.carly

Argo Tea

949 broadway // btwn 22nd & 23rd

Argo Tea is located in the Flat Iron building right across the street from the Park (& Shake Shack!) It's my favorite spot to do homework. Usually I'm stuck indoors in the computer lab isolated from society, here, however- there's big windows, outlets to plug your computer in and two hours of free wi-fi with any purchase! It's great because there are huge windows by the tables so even though I'm doing my homework on my laptop, I can still people watch and feel part of society- I get a lot more done here and feel much more enlightened and inspired! The snacks are great- my favorite is the terriyaki salmon baguette for $3.95 (it is a small portion, though). The teas are great as well, my favorite is shown here: Coconut bubble tea, black tea based (which is the strongest). The drinks can get a bit pricey because they do charge for soy and if you get a sugar-free syrup they charge extra as well. For a medium-iced-coconut bubble-tea-soy it can cost up to $5+. You also get an Argo Tea Card, after purchasing 10 you get one free & on your birthday. Also, once you register it online (which takes legit, 2 minutes) you automatically get a free tea as well.

[ I figured out how to beat the system! instead of buying 10 or waiting till your birthday to get your free drink, you can keep losing your card and keep re-registering. Everytime you re-register you get a free drink with your new card! ...Just make sure you don't do it too often where the staff rccognizes you and catches on =P ....i'm juuuuuust saaaaaaayin`]

*special thanks to Jonathan Kirkland for being in the picture with me and trying out my favorite flavor!

M☮☮DY GLITCH!

WHERE THE YUMMIN' ARE OUR FOLLOWERS @T! ------->

HELLO PANDA!

So I got Carly to try one of my childhood favorite snacks, "HELLO PANDA!" this vanilla biscuit with chocolate filling is super yummy! It was only commonly found in Asian supermarkets but I've been able to find it in a lot of delis lately, next to other childhood favorites: Yan Yan & Pocky snacks. This one by far is my favorite- also comes in strawberry!

Worst first date places

the three worst places to take a first date to (if your kosher).

1. Crumbs, because is its really fattening and the girl might not want to stuff her mouth full of 500 calories and look like a pig. Not only that she may not want to share one on a first date bc thats just gross. Also apparently its under some weird kashrut so the girl will be awfully mad if you thought she wasn't religious.

2. Carlos and Gabby's, really bad idea if you dont want to be seen and talked about. Especially if the date Isn't going too well, Carlos and Gabby's is the place you want to avoid if your date is moody and isnt going well. Not only that if your date see's you checking out someone else your screwed. Its noisy and way too loud. If your suckered into a second date and it isnt going well you might as well take them there to drown out your dates annoying voice and enjoy a fattening cedarhurst (a personal fave).

3. Starbucks, is so generic you might as well say I didnt put any thought in the date at all. Its like the backup plan if the girl is really annoying and doesnt want to go anywhere. The coffee really isnt too great anyway.Just because its dim lit doesnt mean its any better then dunkin donuts. Try a local cafe...duh

LUV HUT, baby

So I know I was complaining in my video because my meal looked pretty bland- but! It was actually super tasty! I would even get it again. The mixed steamed veggies entail: peas, carrots, beats and some lettuce. The shallot dressing definitely set it off!

Again, its a Vegeterian hot spot hole-in-the-wall kind of place. But worth a try if you're in the area!

HAPPY CUPS fro-yo!

So we went to ` 22 HAPPY CUPS cafe on 21st & 6th avenue in the Flat Iron district. We've all tried a lot of their flavors- blueberry is hands down me and Carly's favorite! Shown here is strawberry (because they rotate their flavors daily). Toppings are a bit pricey- you get a better deal on toppings if you go to Pinkberry. Here toppings are $1.00 each, but honestly, you can eat the low-fat-fro-yo plain its got a great sweet flavor!

NUTS 4 NUTS

//found on nearly every nyc corner

shout out to my girlllll MARIE! who is the reason why i have finally tried these corner delicacies. she sniffs out the closest nuts 4 nuts (that came out wrong, but you know what i mean) and attacks for the honey roasted almonds. i highlyyyyy recommend the coconuts, since i'm allergic to nuts, although i did try the almonds and it was most definitely worth the reaction later// k.cool.carly

Van Leeuwen

Every day I walk past the Van Leeuwen truck and I’m tempted to get something. I love the vintage look of the truck but the truth is they are totally ripping off the mudd truck. My uncle recently told me hes good friends with the Van Leeuwen’s in greenpoint and that I had to finally try something. I had a little xtra cash so i decided to try there ice coffee, which I found to be really good and really strong. They don’t charge extra for soy milk which is really great. The only problem was the price $ 3.00 for a 16 oz, is a little pricey. The ice cream is definitely over priced and Erin tried it in the past, she said its not worth it. I think they really just have a really awesome truck and the cool lady with tattoos that serves it. I’d rather go to grey dog around the corner and get a 20 oz for $ 3.00.

Shake Shack!

11 madison avenue // btwn 23rd & 24th

At the famous ‘Shake Shack’ in the Flat Iron District. The line was, legit, an hour long! What kept us from leaving was the fact that we knew it must be worth the wait if all these people were waiting in the heat, we knew it muuuuust be good. Indeed it was! Matt and I both got the ‘Shroom burger, which I must say has been one of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever had. Jonathan, got a cheese burger which was really juicy. The fries are also delicious and have a special seasoning. Only moody glitch is that there’s always a line that’s at least a half an hour and it is a bit pricey. For fries, a soda and a burger it was $11.50, if you add a shake its $16+

Definitely a must try- especially on a sunny New York City day, it’ll really make you all warm insidehttp://www.shakeshack.com/

*Special thanks to Matt & Jonathan for sharing and waiting in that roller-coaster line with me! =)

Blue MoOon

So I’ve never been such a fan of beer but I recently tried Blue Moon beer with Erin and Carly and it was amazing. It has just the right amount of taste with a little bit of an orange it really kicks butt, especially if your girl and you cant handle a full rouge beer. The thing I don’t like about blue moon is how corporate the company really is, apparently they are owned by Coors and they try to stay away from their corporate owners. Anyway I definitely give it a high five in taste, I recently did a beer project last Semester and bought dead guy ale and I had to throw it out because the taste was way too strong. Another beer I really like is Miller high life although some people think its not strong enough. Listen this is from a girls perspective so guys obviously like darker beers. Anyway I’m just saying if you hate beer and don’t want to look like a loser at a party try blue moon or Miller high life either one is a good choice. woman’s

extra for soy milk? boo.

Recently I moved to the east village. I’ve enjoyed many of the top rated coffee cafes in the city. I’ve always been a huge coffee snob and if your drinking your coffee with all that Splenda you might as well not call it coffee anymore. Coffee should be an organic experience the more natural the better. My favorite http://www.ninthstreetespresso.com/ has the best quality and taste. What amazed me the most was the fact that they don’t charge you for soy milk.

You may be wondering why this is amazing? Places like Starbucks and other large stores charge more for soy milk. The funny thing is, they make it seem like soy is something organic and extra pricey. The fact is soy lasts a lot longer then regular milk and doesn’t cost more, unless soy companies have chosen to charge Starbucks because they hate big corporations.I love the taste of soy because it adds an extra sweetness and I don’t have to add any artificial sweeteners. One of the reasons I stopped going to Starbucks was because of this.

This is Allison signing off

peace out!
